Technology today has made it ridiculously easy to discover, consume and enjoy media content like movies, TV shows, books, apps or just some good music. On any given day, I go through tons of different recommendations from friends & peers or via Twitter or other social networks. It may be a random song recommendation from Mikhail or a new TV Show recommendation from friends — it’s never easy to keep track of all these recommendations. It’s never easy to recollect what your friend had recommended that day and you can’t always take action on them right there either, so you either jot them down in an app like Scratch or just add it to your favorite Todo app. Well, Recall is now here to make things extremely simple.
Recall is a ridiculously simple app that lets you add recommendations you get from friends. There are different sections for Movies, TV Shows, Books, Apps, Music and Others. However, Recall doesn’t just maintain a simple list of these recommendations you’ve added. Recall maintains its own database, so when you add a movie recommendation you want to remember for later, it’ll fetch all its information from Rotten Tomatoes and present it in an elegant interface. So you instantly have details like how long the movie is, who stars in it, when it was released or is going to release and its poster and recommendation. This also works when you’re adding a Music track or Album, Apps, TV Shows or Books. This information also carries a link to directly purchase the media from the respective Stores. This is perfect when you’re just relaxing at home or in a park and want to take a look at that book your friend Mark had recommended at Stacey’s party 2 weeks ago.
Recall’s UI has been perfectly crafted to be simple, elegant and to stay out of the way. It lets you quickly add the recommendation and shows you the information when you need it. It’s spiffy, smooth and again, simple. You can set Recall to remind you at a certain date and time about each item you’ve added, or in case of a Movie, when it’s out in the theaters. Of course, you can share your items to a social network. All these things make Recall a ridiculously good app to handle recommendations for you. And at just 99 cents on the App Store, it’s a no-brainer. Unfortunately, it’s US only for now and support for other regions will follow, hopefully soon.
