Although there are thousands of to-do or task-oriented apps out there on the App Store, we always find it refreshing when we come across an app like Prio. We love developers who push the boundaries of UI design or try to experiment with their app’s UI instead of sticking to the “Chickenshit white” approach with the release of iOS 7. With Prio, developer Yari D’areglia has crafted something beautiful and slick. Yari is also part of the designer-developer duo behind the Gradient app for Mac.
Prio is a simple app to quickly add tasks and then get them done. The main screen is a center aligned list of all your tasks and you can add a new one by pulling down on the list. Prio only asks you the title of the task when adding, but you an also add things like a Due Date, Priority, Reminder to it later on. Three tiny glyphs just below the task’s title denote the priority, due date and reminder, if set. I love how the due date glyph turns into a count of days left before the due date when you set one, and if you’re overdue, it turns into a “:(“. You can create multiple lists in the app to neatly organize your tasks. The notifications for the app’s reminders are interactive, so you can take action on them without having to launch the app. Two dots at the top right of the main screen show you all the lists you have created in the app. If a task belongs to a list, it displays that list’s name below the glyphs. On the left of the main screen, you can view your Active Tasks (main screen), your Done List, Add or Edit your Lists or go to the Settings.
Prio is awesome to look at. It shops with 21 different color themes to choose from, so you can customize the app in many different ways. It also offers a Today widget for your Notification Center called “Today’s Priorities”. As a cherry on the cake, there are interactive sounds in the app too. Your data is backed up using iCloud, but there’s no option to export it out of the app.
Prio is available for $0.99 on the App Store and you should definitely check it out.
