NeuBible by Quiet Pupil is one of the best looking apps I’ve ever used. I came across the app a few weeks ago while I was tracking app sales and the icon instantly caught my attention. NeuBible is not only the best looking Bible app out there, but it is the best looking reading app, and I think I enjoy its looks way more than Unread, which is something I never thought I’d say. NeuBible is an app by ex-Apple designer, Kory Westerhold, and his childhood friend and Yahoo Design Director, Aaron Martin. They’ve spoken to Fast Company about the…

When you review iOS and Mac apps, you get a ton of press releases that are usually accompanied with a press kit link and even a beta of an app. Whenever I check my email on my phone, I often have to mark an email as unread so I remember to download the press assets later on my computer. I could always download things to my phone and then send them to the computer through various services, but it all feels messy. Transloader by Eternal Storms has made my life so much easier. It’s a superb combination of iOS and…

I’m pretty shocked at how many apps have been updated or released for the Apple Watch already. Timers by Clean Shaven Apps launched with Apple Watch support a few days ago. I’m a huge fan of their Dispatch & Clips apps, as you probably tell, and Timers is another home run for them. Timers is a very simple and flexible interval timers app for iOS. It is a Universal app and uses some lovely color schemes. A cards interface isn’t new at all, but Timers manages to look gorgeous on iPhone, iPad, and even the Apple Watch. It has been…

Ever since the release of iOS 8, the iTunes Store on iOS has become unusably bad for past purchases. Unlike the App Store, where a lovely cloud download button is available for your purchases, you have to go through an arduous process to redownload your music. This forces me to actually connect my devices to my Mac to sync music, which is annoying because it involves iTunes. I haven’t even started talking about lossless music ripped from discs or downloaded from elsewhere. If you’ve ever used an Android device, you know how great it is to just be able to…

Alto’s Adventure by Snowman is a visually spectacular game that we have been looking forward to for a long time here on Beautiful Pixels. The game’s premise is simple — it involves you snowboarding across a gorgeous alpine landscape while rescuing llamas and avoiding obstacles. Yes, it is a single touch controlled game. Each run is different as the game is procedurally generated and you will run into various obstacles including chasms, mountain elders, and rocks. There are six characters you can play as, each with their own abilities & characteristics. While most games in this genre would focus on…

I’ve often seen apps that let you use your iPad as a secondary display featured and praised highly on app review websites. Apps like Air Display and other solutions that rely on a wireless connection have never worked for me as advertised. I was skeptical of Duet Display as well. It received a ton of good press from websites on launch and I finally decided to give it a shot when Apple featured it. Duet Display is currently featured in Apple’s Get Productive promotion. Duet Display relies on a wired connection between your iOS device and Mac and a helper…
