Mikhail Madnani is the acting Editor-in-Chief of Beautiful Pixels. He’s usually the one making sure so many weather apps get reviewed when he isn’t playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2 or Hearthstone.

The number of great looking apps on iOS is massive and we have featured a lot of them here. With the introduction of Android 4.0 (ICS) and eventually 4.1 (Jellybean), Matias Duarte has been changing Android for the better. The overall experience of using a stock Android device is improving with each update. While the number of beautiful apps on the platform is really low, there are some apps that are spectacular. Weather Eye by Tim Clark is one such app. Weather Eye is a minimal weather app that shows you the current weather and a 4 day forecast. The…

There are tons of applications and services that hope to be daily planners and help you get things done. Almost all of them require you to enter everything yourself. I’ve been waiting for something that would let me search through everything I do online easily. Apple’s Spotlight search is awesome for stuff on your device but there is tons of stuff that’s in the cloud through other services. We recently wrote about Zomato’s Windows Phone App here on Beautiful Pixels and in the review, I’d mentioned how their iOS and Android apps were plain and boring. Zomato has gone ahead and released updates to both their iOS and Android apps and I’m glad that they have completely rewritten the apps for these two platforms. While the Android app is plagued with a few font issues, the iOS app is near perfect. It feels much more refined now and it has shed all its plain native look with boring red gradients. The app is now full of solid colours…

The author currently works at Ender Labs that brought us the…

Zomato, founded in 2008, is a popular website that covers over 30,000 restaurants in 10 cities across India. Their website has reviews and menu listings for almost every restaurant listed in their database and the massive user base contributes regularly to the reviews section. They have launched apps for BlackBerry (Still immensely popular in India), iOS, Android and Windows Phone. While their Windows Phone app was updated some time ago with a very drool-worthy look, apps for the other platforms are still stuck with the same old boring and unlovely UI. While many apps on Windows Phone usually stick to…

The App Store has more weather apps that are worth writing about than I have ways to introduce weather app reviews. Having a weather app available seems like something every designer wants to do right now and while there are some that look similar to others, I love it when developers and designers work towards presenting iOS users with a new way of looking at weather. While most recent apps have been going for the minimalistic approach, Raureif, The Berlin based consultancy takes a more infographic based approach to weather with Partly Cloudy. Partly Cloudy offers a very unique way…
