Meet Pokki. Pokki is an app a program for Windows 7 that allows you to install special HTML5 apps onto your System Taskbar. These work like native apps and also feature local notification alerts. Currently in beta, Pokki already has custom designed apps for Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, Wall Street and eBay. The Gmail Pokki in particular is extremely beautiful. Designed by Julien Renvoye, it features just the right blend of aesthetics, icon and pixel love. A majority of people I know have either transitioned over to Reeder — the fantastic RSS Reader app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, or Flipboard — the excellent magazine-style iPad app. So was there any space left in the market for another entrant? These delicious little tags pictured above are the fine work of Thomas Bossée, a designer from Belgium. Titled ‘Sliding Tags’ by him, these scrumptious pixels were posted by him on his Dribbble account yesterday. When you hover over them, the tags are designed to reveal a count by elegantly sliding out — much like a chocolate bar slides out of its wrapper. Developer Mike Carter has then gone onto create a live demo of these in action. The way the tags appear slowly, one by one inside the panel just looks marvelous. Fine details like the ease-in and ease-out in…

Here’s the newest kid on a block that’s already populated by a large number of photo-sharing apps for the iPhone. The iPhone makes a great pocket camera, so it’s not surprising that many big and small companies want to put out apps that take a bite out of it. Photovine is a gorgeous new app that functions very much like Piictu. In Photovine, when you post/upload a photo for the first time, it starts a “vine” of sorts where other people on the service can add their own photos to the vine that fit the title. So if I start…
