Day One is by far my favorite journaling app. It offers beautifully designed & feature-rich apps for iPhone, iPad & Mac and even allows publishing select updates to the web. The app has won critical acclaim, even from Apple, winning the prestigious Apple Design Award for its Mac app at WWDC ’14. Today, the developers have released a stellar update for iOS 8 that brings some amazing new features to the app. First up, Day One now has a Today widget for your Notification Center. This widget shows you your entries per day for the last 50 days, daily word…

From the makers of Over comes Quick, a really simple app to quickly add artistic text to your photos and share them anywhere. It’s quite similar to what Over already does, but it’s a toned down version where the goal was to offer the quickest way of adding text to the photos. When you launch the app, you’re presented a two-column grid if your Camera Roll. Once you select the photo you’d like to build upon, you can double tap to type & edit your text. Calendars 5 — the gorgeous calendar app by Readdle has today been updated to version 5.5, just in time for iOS 8. Sitting comfortably in your Notification Center, the widget is easily accessible from anywhere and gives you a quick overview of your upcoming events in the day. I love how the widget shows not…

The App Store is filled with plenty of time zone converters for iPhone and iPad. Many of the ones that I’ve tried are terribly crafted, have clunky & confusing user interfaces or are just plain ugly. Of course, there have been exceptions, like Globo. Miranda is the new kid on the block, designed and developed by the folks at SFCD, who previously went by the name Soft Facade and are also behind some of the best design work I have ever seen. Miranda is a lovingly crafted world clock app as well as a time zone converter for iPhone with…
