Ramp Champ is one of the fondest memories I have of gaming on my iPhone. It is one of the few games that I have spent my money on as soon as I saw it. Ramp Champ made its debut on the App Store back in 2009 and was an instant hit. Co-developed by the folks at The Iconfactory in partnership with DS Media Labs, Ramp Champ’s design was absolutely incredible at the time and the game was an absolute joy to spend your time on.
Today, Ramp Champ is back on the App Store. The game sort of faded away after 2011, with no major updates or improvements until 2013, when it received a minor update that added support for iPhone 4. During this time, the game has apparently changed ownership and is now owned by SocketFace Studios based in Florida. Today’s release comes four years after the last one, and brings along major changes and improvements to Ramp Champ.
Ramp Champ has been completely remastered for the newer 4.7″ and 5.5″ devices. It has been rewritten in Swift and now carries updated graphics for Retina devices. The physics of the game have been updated too, along with the sounds and music that the game uses. Your scores and tickets now sync across devices over iCloud, and there’s support for Game Center leaderboards and achievements as well.
I just spent about a couple of hours playing the game and it was a lovely trip down the memory lane. You should too. Ramp Champ is available for Free on the App Store.
