Apple officially released iOS 11 to the public a little under 24 hours ago and by now, I’m sure it is already up and running on your iPhone. iOS 11 is a major release from Apple that brings along an updated User Interface along with a host of new features and improvements. More importantly, though, iOS 11 is a massive release for iPad and introduces some incredible and much-needed features that make the iPad a truly powerful computing device and a very viable product for most consumers.
One of the biggest features of iOS 11 on the iPad is Drag and Drop. iOS 11 gives you the ability to Drag and Drop text, images, videos, etc. with your fingers easily between two apps. Let’s take a look at some major apps that have been updated with support for the Drag and Drop feature on iOS 11.

Airmail’s v1.7 introduces support for Drag and Drop on iOS 11, Quick Look Preview, a new Rendering Engine and an improved app for Apple Watch.

Annotable’s v2.2 lets you drag in any text or image from other apps to quickly create an annotation and drag out the preview image to other apps to quickly share your annotations.

Astro’s v2.5 adds support for Drag and Drop on iOS 11, so you can drag in text, images, and videos from other apps on your iPad when composing an email.

Buffer’s v7.0 is a massive update that includes not just the ability to Drag and Drop content from other apps onto the Composer, but also allows you to Drag and Drop contents from your Buffer queue into another account. This release also adds new keyboard shortcuts to the keyboard for a faster way to compose content.

Canva is the brilliant Photo Editor and Design app we wrote about earlier this year. Canva’s v2.4 brings Drag and Drop abilities for you to add images from other apps and get your creativity flowing. This release also includes a lovely ARKit ‘Print preview’ mode that lets you visualize your creations on a plane near you.

Day One Journal is by far the most beautiful and feature-rich journaling app out there, across all platforms. Day One’s v2.5 brings along the ability to quickly Drag and Drop text or images from other apps, allowing you to quickly register a journal entry. You can also Drag and Drop your journals for easier management.

Documents by Readdle is a must-have app on any iOS device. It gives you an easy way to manage your files and the latest v6.1.1 adds Drag and Drop abilities, allowing you to quickly import files from anywhere and also Drag and Drop text or images into the app. If you have an iPad running iOS 11, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be using Documents, or really any app by the folks at Readdle.

Dribbble’s official app for iOS has added the ability to Drag and Drop shots out of the app, so you can quickly share or save them. As the app now supports uploading of shots too, you can Drag in images from other apps and upload them to your profile with ease.

The Guides by Lonely Planet app now allows you to Drag and Drop your favorite places for easy saving and also allows you to reorder them just as quickly and easily.

Instapaper’s latest v7.4 includes Drag and Drop features, allowing you to drag in links from other apps and the ability to drag articles and highlights out of the app so you can share them anywhere.

Notability is a powerful note-taking app for iPhone and iPad. Version 7.0 introduced today embraces Drag and Drop abilities offered by iOS 11, allowing you to import files from other apps into Notability or Drag and Drop your sketches, images, notes, etc. out of the app with ease. You can also Drag and Drop your notes within the app for easier management of your Library.

One of the biggest To-Do apps for iOS and Mac, OmniFocus v2.21 has added the ability to Drag and Drop tasks between or within projects. You can also Drag and Drop tasks onto other apps, so that the resulting items will be TaskPaper formatted texts, URLs or Calendar items — depending on what app you Drag the task onto.

Screens VNC is probably my favorite update of the lot here. Screens v4.5 introduced today brings along Drag and Drop abilities that let you drag content in and out of the app. But because this is a VNC app, anything you drag into the app while you are connected to a Mac can also be pasted into the Mac using the clipboard syncing feature.

Spark — currently my favorite email app on iOS and Mac — has added Drag and Drop capabilities with v1.10, allowing you to drag text, images, files to composer emails faster.

Todoist is one of the most popular multi-platform To-Do apps out there. Version 11.5.1 released today adds support for two notable iOS 11 features — Drag and Drop as well as Siri integration. Drag and Drop support allows you to move your task around in the app and to/from other apps with ease whereas Siri integration allows you to add tasks into the app directly by talking to Siri

Twitter’s official app for iOS now offers support for Drag and Drop too, letting you drag GIFs, images, videos and more into the compose view.

1Password v6.9 now lets you Drag and Drop usernames and passwords onto other apps, so even if the apps don’t natively integrate 1Password, you can still log in with the app. It doesn’t just work with the Username and Password fields, but any field in 1Password. Quite nifty!
