A lot of you might have, atleast once, come across the term ‘Fourth dimension’. While it is often said that time is the fourth dimension, it’s not. In fact however we try, we might never fully understand the fourth dimension. Simply because, we exist in a three dimensional space. Hence it makes it extremely hard to even imagine how the next dimension might look like. But a few weeks ago, I came across ‘The Fourth Dimension’ app and it was the closest I came to understanding the mysterious fourth dimension.
My first few moments with the app was a truly mind-boggling experience, which I might never forget in my life. This is a 30 page interactive book. But calling it a ‘book’ would be a sin because it is an amazingly interactive journey & experience overall. You are taken through pages which slowly explain from the first dimension, where you interactively manipulate structures and keep adding dimensions to it until you ultimately reach the fourth dimension.
The background ambient music and sound effects are great and definitely is an integral part of the experience, making you feel like you are transported to a mysterious place. I have gone through the app at least more than five times so far and thanks to zero load-time between 3D pages and quickly skip-able sections, you can always revisit your favorite parts without hassles. The abstract textures, smooth animations and the overall design is perfect for the kind of app it aims to be.
And the best part is that it manages to get you to understand the fourth dimension without even a single mathematical formula! All the explanations are done visually using interactive 3d structures and plain old English text in layman terms. The author has also managed to keep the reading experience entertaining with quirky statements which will make you chuckle occasionally. By the end of it, you might wonder whether you would have become an astrophysicist if all your high-school textbooks were at least half as well-executed as this app is. The Fourth Dimension is a Universal app available on the App Store for just $2.99 and everybody who believe they live in a three dimensional space should download it now!
