This is an app you might have imagined, but never thought would be a reality in this day. LivePitch is a world cup tracker, which combines a beautiful user interface with real time data, providing you with the ultimate way to keep track of the game.
The home screen tells you what match is currently on, or counts down to the next match. If you want to see how the app works, you can proceed on to a simulated demo game. When you get into a game, the view is beautiful. The players are laid out on the field; a possession slider clearly defines the game. But what’s that? The players live update as the ball is passed around! You can even tap on a player name to see his activity in this game.
Getting back to the home screen, you can see the group standings at a glance, or watch as the knockout stage progresses. All of which has been presented in drop dead gorgeous pixels.
Unfortunately, for football lovers, the app is extremely buggy. It’s sluggish to start with, and the time almost never syncs up. I suppose the app imagined still isn’t a reality today. But at least the app is free, beautiful, and even though its “Live” aspects don’t quite work as advertised, is a nice to have companion app for your iPad. LivePitch.
UPDATE: As per developer Utku’s comment below, the bug seems to have been fixed. Works beautifully now. Magical!

Hey, Utku from Mint Digital, developers of LivePitch here. Hope you’re well.
Thanks so much writing about LivePitch, delighted to hear you’re liking the look.
We only had about a month in going from concept to product and things aren’t quite perfect yet. Unfortunately, we had a particularly nasty data bug in the last 24 hours which meant updates for the matches weren’t going through. I have a feeling you may have ended up testing it during that time. Apologies for the problems…
We just deployed an update on the server side and which should hopefully make things much smoother. Please do give it another go in the next game. If you run into any problems, you can contact us at [email protected] too.
Thanks once again for covering LivePitch.
All the best,
Utku
