I never quite bought into the idea of using the iPad as a photoframe. It’s too useful for something as trivial as that. Which is why I was a little skeptical about checking out PhotoFrame, but was pulled to it by its rather stunning look.
Instead of just showing you an image slideshow PhotoFrame overlays a beautiful calendar and current time at the bottom. The resulting look is nothing short of stunning. This will replace the photoframe and calendar from your desk. Tap the buttons at the bottom to change the ‘screen’. Currently there are two screens, the second one being a full on yearly calendar. The Chilli X team promises to add more screens like RSS, Twitter, and all that; kind of like Lockscreen info in an app.
PhotoFrame comes with one big issue. You have to manually select photos from your library, one by one. I suppose it’s a limitation of the platform. But Chilli X has made a virtue out of it, and you’re allowed only 20 images per gallery. Perhaps having a smaller selection of images is less distracting.
PhotoFrame costs $0.99 today, or $2.99 from tomorrow onwards. If you like having pictures flash across your desk, this is the better way to do it.
