Textastic for iPad 5.0
Textastic was always the best code editor for your iPhone and iPad. Textastic 5.0 for iPad just hit with a fresh coat of iOS 7 paint and while the interface update is good, I’m pretty blown away by the additions to the keyboard within the app. There’s a row of keys above the stock iOS keyboard that lets you input 50 different characters without having to change the keyboard. I love the implementation. Tap to enter the character in the middle or swipe in a particular direction for that character in the button on the keyboard. There’s also the cursor navigation wheel that makes selecting text and moving around an absolute breeze. Tapping with two fingers brings this up and my only real complaint with it is the non iOS 7 look. Textastic supports a plentitude of file formats and lets you access files through remote servers. I can’t wait for the iPhone update. As of now Textastic has raised the bar pretty high for mobile IDEs in general. Textastic 5.0 for iPad is available on the App Store for $8.99.
