I’m pretty shocked at how many apps have been updated or released for the Apple Watch already. Timers by Clean Shaven Apps launched with Apple Watch support a few days ago. I’m a huge fan of their Dispatch & Clips apps, as you probably tell, and Timers is another home run for them.
Timers is a very simple and flexible interval timers app for iOS. It is a Universal app and uses some lovely color schemes. A cards interface isn’t new at all, but Timers manages to look gorgeous on iPhone, iPad, and even the Apple Watch. It has been built keeping the watch in mind and it shows. You can control everything from your Apple Watch, so there’s no need to reach for your phone while working out or while you’re getting your caffeine fix. Everything is customizable and each card represents a set of timers for a specific activity. I love the subtle gradient used in each major colour for the cards background. It is evident that the wireframe for these cards was designed for the watch and yet it manages to look great even on my iPad screen. It ships with few default templates, like some workout templates and the advertised Aeropress one. Once a timer has begun, you can switch to the next one by swiping to the right. There are also some really nice bounce animations for closing a timer or switching from a timer to the main cards interface.
Timers has one major downside. I can’t stand the forced spoken countdown. Even after disabling everything in the settings, Timers still forcibly speaks out stuff using the voice set for Siri. Having a ticker when there are a few seconds left would be a lot better. Timers is available on the App Store at 40% off right now for $2.99.
