Begin is a very simple app. It has been developed by Kyle Rosenbluth (who has previously been featured on BP for Horizon Calendar) in conjunction with Ben Brooks. It simplifies what other apps fail to do. Most people have no time or patience for complicated todo apps. Begin has you covered for what you have to do today, tomorrow and if you have anything left over from yesterday.
Begin looks great and its use of colors doesn’t take away from the simplicity of the app. Begin shows how you can be creative and minimal at the same time while designing a stunning iOS 7 interface. The main view has been split up into a ‘Today’ and ‘Tomorrow’ section. You can easily add a new task by pulling down on the screen. Actions on tasks are gesture-based, just as you would expect and there are some nice animations to compliment them as well. When you complete a task, you swipe it to the right and then can swipe it back to the left to delete it from the list after it has been marked as done. Swiping to the left will postpone it to tomorrow. The app refreshes every day and whatever was leftover from yesterday is moved into the Uncompleted section that can be accessed by swiping up. Tasks can be moved around with gestures and after spending a few minutes with the app, you will be good to go.

Begin comes with two themes for free. One is the default light theme you see that has a red highlight and the dark theme has a lovely blue highlight look. The other themes are available as an in app purchase for $0.99 and out of the ones I used, the Solarized ones were the best of the lot. The in app purchase is worth it just for those Solarized themes.
What I really love about the app barring its looks, is how it simplifies your productivity. This obviously will not work for people who want a full blown GTD Suite in an app. However, it is a great app for most people who just want to quickly glance at their tasks and deal with them. For the more advanced user, Begin also features a variety of powerful URL schemes that can be viewed here. Begin is available Free on the App Store completely built for iOS 7.
