Vimeo is one of my favorite sites on the internet. Much like YouTube, I spend many hours of the month watching the videos uploaded there by filmmakers and video enthusiasts. There are some really incredible short films, travel videos, documentaries and other content as well as Vimeo Originals and Vimeo On Demand films being shared there.
With today’s smartphone cameras getting better with every release, everyone has an incredible video camera in their pockets that is capable of shooting stunning footage on the go. Many of us do use our phones to shoot videos of practically anything, but never actually end up sharing them. Sure, you might watch it with your friends and families, but there’s so much more you could do with your videos. That’s where Cameo for iOS comes in. Cameo is absolutely delightful and elegant video editing app for iPhone that enables you to make quick edits to the videos in your camera roll, add music to it and upload it to your Vimeo account.
Although I had known about Cameo’s existence for some time now, I’d never actually given it a try, dismissing it as just another video editing app. I recently fired it up after its update for iPhone 6s and 6s Plus that introduced 4K exports and I was pleasantly impressed with it. I love the way the app’s UI has been designed to be elegant and cheerful.
Cameo isn’t a power-packed video editor — it’s designed to be used by anyone and everyone. You’ll only find the basic editing tools in here, and that’s where lies the beauty of it. You can pick a few different clips from your Camera Roll, trim or adjust the order on the timeline, toggle the audio on or off and pick your own music for your video from Cameo’s own selection. Cameo also offers its own themes of you want a more polished touch to your videos.
Once you’re done, you can either publish the video directly to your Vimeo account or share it on Twitter, Facebook or Tumblr and save it back on your phone. There’s so much you can do with Cameo and tingle your inner creative juices.
Cameo is available for Free on the App Store, but is only available for iPhone.
