Even when I first saw screenshots of the app, I felt pixel lust. Scratch that, even when I first heard about the app I knew I’d have to feature it; Aleksandar Vacić makes beautiful apps by default.
Couch to 5k is a popular program for getting in shape, or something. It follows a pattern of running and walking, with an ultimate goal to get you to run 5 kilometres at a stretch, the specifics of which you had best learn elsewhere. Vacić’s app Go Couch to 5k takes all the aspects of learning this program and keeping track of your progress and wraps it in a beautiful user interface and workflow.
After a brief introduction, you start the course. The app will grab your GPS location, and a voice will instruct you to start a warm up run. As soon as you start running, the slickest bar graph will chart your run; it’s beautiful. I didn’t really follow through the entire program — running is not really my kind of thing — but I get the feeling that this is one complete app. Vacić has also included a beautiful music player user interface (screenshot below) which can keep you occupied during your runs. I should mention that this app depends on the GPS for tracking your runs, so you have to watch your battery, and if you want to use the treadmill you won’t get the pretty bars or distance tracking.
At just $2.99, this app is a treat.
