Goodshows is a community built around TV Shows, Movies and the users who love watching them. It’s a great way to discover new movies and TV Shows from your friends or other folks who share the same taste as you.
Goodshows features a well-crafted UI and offers a pleasing experience when you use the app. Once you create an account in the app and start following a few people, you’ll see all their activity in your Home tab. So whenever someone rates a show or writes a review about a new movie, you can read it here and find out more about it. If you find something worth watching, you can save it for later in the Watchlist tab, which lists all the TV Shows and Movies you’ve bookmarked. The app notifies you of new episodes or movie releases using Push Notifications. If you want to post something of your own, such as rating a particular episode of Game of Thones, you can do that using the tab in the center with the Pencil icon. Here, you can type a short blurb about what you thought about the episode, rate it from 5 Stars (Must-watch) to 1 Start (Poor) and also auto-share on Facebook and Twitter when you post. The Notifications tab lists all the activity while the Me tab contains information about your profile.
Unfortunately, the problem with apps like Goodshows is that it only works when you have a bunch of friends using the app. The more activity there is, the more there is to discover and discuss. I could only find a few interesting people to follow, so my Home tab has been mostly quiet. That said, the app is really nicely done, so I’m hoping more of you give the app a try.
Goodshows is a Universal app, so you can enjoy using it on your iPhone or iPad, although the UI on the iPad is just a blown up version of the iPhone. It is available for Free on the App Store.
