[tweetmeme] Very few apps manage to deviate from user interface standards and still manage to look so good. Movies Now by Kodu features the most visibly gorgeous tab-bar, that pretty much defines this app. But they didn’t stop there. Everything from the controls, to the background, to the way the thumbnails are laid out is ultimate perfection. Their latest pixel goodness is in the form of a pop up that allows you to add a movie to your wishlist.
What is it?
Movies Now, as the name suggests, is all about what’s currently playing in a theatre near you. It uses your geolocation to figure out the closest movie houses, and you can even purchase tickets right from within the app. This feature only works in the UK and in limited locations in the US As Kavin, Kodu’s Co-Founder points out in the comments below, this feature is set to be launched in the UK soon and there is support for US & Canada too. For the rest of us however, there’s a ‘current movies’ catalog to browse through, where you can read movie synopsis, movie reviews, and even play the trailer. The app is a free download, but ships with ugly ads, which can be disabled by using the in-app $2.99 ad-free unlock.
