When it comes to taking photographs, lighting is one of the most important factors to consider. Lighting can make or break a photograph and often, a good photographer goes to great lengths to ensure the scene is well lit or is just the way he wants it. One of the best possible time to take a good photograph is during what is known as a Golden Hour. The Golden Hour is the time when the light from the sun is soft, at a better angle and works best for your photo. The exact time when you see the Golden Hour differs depending on your location and Rizon is a lovely iPhone app that helps you know exactly when that is.
Rizon is a shooting companion app for iPhone crafted by Sam King & Malolan Santhanakrishnan. It features a super simple circular dial that denotes the hours of the day and tells you what kind of light will be seen at what time. Daylight is denoted by the while color, the Golden Hour is denoted by the red color, Twilight is denoted by blue whereas moonlight (or no light) is denoted by black. You can rotate this dial and the time value under it changes. At the very bottom is the day selector that lets you view the light for a future date as well.
The app lets you add and save multiple locations that also work offline, so if you’re far away from connectivity, Rizon will still work for you. Rizon also allows you to set one-time or recurring reminders for the Golden Hour.
Rizon is available at a launch price of $1.99 on the App Store. A future update to the app will introduce a Today widget that will give you handy access to the app’s features right within the Notification Center.
