[tweetmeme] While futuristic user interfaces are well appreciated, here’s an app that goes back in time, way before I was even born to appreciate it. Tripmix from Overcommitted brings back the 1960s in a music player.
Tripmix is a roadtrip companion that can very well serve as an office companion. As soon as you launch the app, it begins playing music from your iPod in an ultra retro interface. It’s so retro, that there’s a separate play and pause button! Unlike other shufflers however, Tripmix plays three songs from each artist before moving to the next. It’s the absolute perfect way to shuffle music.
The Tripmix user interface, presumably designed by Harold Emsheimer would look great with the iPhone sitting in a dock on the dashboard. It’s got an ‘odometer’ to keep track of how long you’ve been travelling, and features a fuel guage which I’m guessing is to keep your enthusiasm high [Update: Apparently it does go down as the shuffled artists from your iPod go by].
All in all a wonderful little app, that has limited real utility, but unlimited feel-good factor. $1.99 at the App Store.
