CloudApp has been released today, after much hype and anticipation, and first impressions are it definitely lives up to my expectations.
CloudApp:
CloudApp allows you to share images, links, music, videos and files. Here is how it works: choose a file, drag it to the menubar and let us take care of the rest. We provide you with a short link automatically copied to your clipboard that you can use to share your upload with co-workers and friends. Additionally you can view, track and delete files right from your menubar.
If you share anything on Twitter, collaborate with teams, or use the internet, you’re going to want to check out Cloud. With a user interface that’s so transparent to the user, gorgeous pixels in the cloud, and great functionality—for free—is something you shouldn’t miss out on. Get Cloud App.

Isn’t this exactly what Droplr does?
http://droplr.com/hello
imo Droplr has much better file manager: http://drp.ly/JAO2B
You don’t get it, CloudApp is used for something totally different than Droplr. You just drag a item to the menubar and it’s instantly uploading, and copies the URL. It’s used to share links and screenshots and such threw IM and Twitter, not large files.
I’ve been using it in the closed beta, and I must say that it has been changed A LOT with this first official version, but now it’s even awesome-er then ever. Go get it, you won’t regret it.
You should try Doplr first, I just drag an item (image, url etc) to the menubar icon and it’s instantly uploading, and copies the URL :)
don’t get me wrong, CloudApp looks very nice but Doplr offers the same funcionality (with better file manager for images)
How much storage do you get on CloudApp? I couldn’t find any info on the site.
@Cespur
Droplr is almost the same as Cloud App when it comes to functionality. You can drag-drop files to the menubar icon. And it has a slightly better web-based manager.
But where Cloud App excels are Raindrops which are essentially like plugins for different apps. So, for example, a VLC raindrop will allow you to share a snapshop of a movie you’re playing or a Spotify raindrop shortens the URL of the song you’re playing. Moreover, developers can build their own Raindrops in the future, I think.
@Neil
The per-file size limit is 50MB. They haven’t said what the total storage limit is.
@preshit
That raindrop idea sounds great… I’m excited to see what other programs are added to the list.
