Realmac Software is one of the first names that comes to mind when I’m asked about who I think are the developers behind some of the most stunning Mac & iOS apps out there today. Realmac Software have been responsible for apps like Clear, LittleSnapper, Ember, Rapidweaver and today, they’ve released another Mac app for the masses, called Typed. Typed is a stunning text editor or writing app for Mac powered by Markdown.
Typed offers a distraction free experience through a gorgeously minimal UI and ships with some neat features that help you get your writing done. When you launch Type, it displays an inspirational quote in the dead center. You can customize Typed by choosing from three themes — Light, Sepia & Dark as well as six typefaces — Typed Pro, Avenir Next, Menlo, Helvetica, Courier & Georgia. Typed Pro is the default and it looks gorgeous as you type. Typed also offers a responsive layout, so the text size scales as you resize the window. Typed uses the Markdown syntax, so the text that you type is easily readable and can also be exported to HTML or shared to any other native apps. Type includes character & word counts, HTML previews, various export options & support for keyboard shortcuts.
Zen Mode
The most notable feature in Typed is its Zen Mode. With Zen Mode, you can enter distraction-free, full-screen view in Typed while soothing music plays for you in the background. There are six different background music styles that you can choose from and they’re all very good.
Typed 1.0 is a fantastic start and already shows a lot of promise. It’s available for purchase at an introductory price of $19.99 directly from Realmac Software.
