[tweetmeme] If one day, I’m walking down a dark lonely alley and out of nowhere, a shady dude with a hoodie appears in front of me with a Mateba pointed at my head, asking me to disclose my favorite interface design company, it wouldn’t take me long before I blurt out, “MetaLab“. Known to create stunningly beautiful interfaces for a host of well-knowns, the MetaLab team ensures that there’s pixel-level perfection in everything that comes out from their stables.
Ballpark app is one such gem from MetaLab. Ballpark is essentially a web app that’s “the better way to send estimates + invoices“, as the company likes to put it, and it sure as hell is. Your guided tour about gorgeous visual interface begins right on their plans’ listing page. Offering 5 plans to choose from, their sign-up form speaks a lot about what they believe in – Simple is beautiful.
The app offers the most common functionality – Adding a company or person, creating invoices, commenting from team members or adding notes, converting the accepted estimate to invoice etc. Sure, there are other unique features as well, but what sets Ballpark apart from the many other invoicing apps out there is how everything is presented to you. Every bit of the web-site is drool-worthy and boy is it appealing. Take a look at the Estimate in the screenshot above. Lickable, almost. MetaLab has made brilliant use of advanced CSS and Javascript techniques, combined with some beautiful pixels to make invoicing super fun.
I’ve only recently started using the service for my personal work and a gallery of screenshots can be viewed here.
