If you work with or create videos for a living, and have wanted to showcase your work on your own website for the world to see, Cinematico is something you should definitely check out. Created by Jason Schuller, who is known for Press75 and its gorgeous WordPress themes as well as Dropplets — the minimal markdown blogging platform, Cinematico helps video professionals create their own portfolio website powered by either YouTube or Vimeo.
Cinematico offers a dead-simple way to be up and running with your own portfolio website that showcases your videos that you have uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo account. It comes in two flavors — you can either download it and install it on your own server or hosting account or you can sign up for their hosted platform, although this offering is not live yet. Cinematico supports themes, so you can choose and customize the look that you want on your website. The themes are responsive, so they look great on any device. Using the downloadable version, you can use it in combination with your personal domain name as well. The Settings in Cinematico let you customize your site with your own logo, favicon, background image as well as lets you add an About page, 404 page, profile settings and Google Analytics code to track visitors to your website. Installation is database-less, so you can be up and running in seconds.
The great thing about Cinematico is that because it works off of your YouTube or Vimeo account, every time you upload a new video, it automatically shows up on your website. It works not only with your accounts, but also any channels, playlists (YouTube) or Albums (Vimeo) that you specify in the settings. This way, you can create a custom stream source and choose only some videos to show up on your Portfolio website.
Cinematico‘s downloadable version is priced at $75 (includes a year of updates and support), but is currently on sale for just $25. The hosted version is priced at $10/month, but is not open to the public yet.
