Degreees is a small side-project by Stuart Regan and Oleg Tsaplin, the talented duo behind Finely. Designed to be a extremely simple way to glance at the temperature of your current location, Degreees does a phenomenally good job of a minimalistic look at just the relevant information.
Degreees uses W3C’s Geolocation API through the browser to automatically locate where you are, and then fetches the temperature, displaying it beautifully in the middle of the screen. The count actually goes from 0 to whatever the temperature is, which is a very nice touch. The web app also displays the name of the location, today’s high and the expected high for the next day. You can also toggle between Celcuis and Fahrenheit, and if you feel socially savvy, you can even tweet it out to your friends. The shade of the background color is determined by the intensity of the temperature — a simple addon, but beautiful nonetheless.
That’s not all, Degreees even has a customized experience for the iPhone. You can add the site to your homescreen, and it even comes with a lovely icon for it. The duo plans to add the ability to search by city manually in the near future.
Go ahead and check it out, it’s beautiful.
