Pinterest Acquires Instapaper
Instapaper — one the two popular read-it-later services today has today announced that it has been acquired by Pinterest. Betaworks bought Instapaper from Marco Arment about three years ago and since then, the team has added a bunch of improvements and polish to the app. Post acquisition, the Instapaper team will be moving to Pinterest’s HQ in San Francisco from their current base in New York.
Although Pinterest says that Instapaper will continue to be a separate app, the company is announcing that it will be shutting down Instaparser — their text parsing tool for developers.
As we focus on the future of the user experience, we’ll be sunsetting our developer product, Instaparser. Starting today, we will cease signups for Instaparser and halt billing for existing customers. In order to ensure a smooth transition for current users, we will keep Instaparser running until November 1, 2016.
