The Lost Type Co-Op

The Lost Type Co-Op

The Lost Type Co-Op is a lovely website founded by Riley Cran and Tyler Galpin that features a collection of some beautiful fonts. What’s notable about the Lost Type Co-Op is the way the site and the fonts it features have been laid out. It’s one of the sites where the whole package is one beautiful bunch of pixels and textures. According to its About page, The Lost Type Co-Op was originally supposed to be a medium to distribute a single typeface, but it eventually blossomed into a full fledged foundry.

The site features fonts submitted by designers all over the world and are available via a unique model. You choose the price you’d like to pay for your favorite font. Yes, you can even choose to download the font for free but the font collection is so beautiful, I doubt anyone would actually enter $0 in there.

The individual listing pages for each font are also beautifully designed. Here’s the one for Cubano — a stellar sans-serif by C. Van De Water. There’s a nifty block on the right telling you the font classification, the sets available and its designer. If the font supports @font-face embeds, well, that’s mentioned too. A classy page indeed!

The Lost Type Co-Op pays 100% of the revenue directly to each of the designers. Props to Riley and Tyler for this fantastic initiative.
