As the camera in the iPhone got better with every release starting with the iPhone 3GS, we’ve started shooting a lot more videos with it. The iPhone is capable of shooting some stunning 1080p videos and manages some real good video stabilization as well. However, more often than not, these videos stay in our Camera Roll on the phone or are filed away into some folder on your Desktop computer as individual clips. Clipper helps you create mini-movies out of these clips shot from your iPhone.
Clipper works very much like Instagram. When you first launch the app, it asks you to select the clips from your Camera Roll that you’d like to work with. Once selected, Clipper automatically creates a project using these clips and presents them in the editor view. Here, you can drag and change the order of the clips, tap to edit the starting point or add more clips. In case you suffer from Vertical Video Syndrome, Clipper ingeniously lets you choose a frame from the vertical video so that you can crop it into a horizontal frame.
Once you are satisfied with the order of the clips, you can choose the music you want to have in the background. You can either select your own music from the library or any of the five ‘music’ themes that Clipper includes in the app. At the bottom, there are video effects (filters) that you can apply to your clips and once you’re done, you can share the mini-movie to your typical social networks, share it with someone via email or save it to your Camera Roll.
The only complaint I have about Clipper is its terrible icon. It looks way off and very odd compared to its UI. That said, Clipper still does a pretty good job of working with your clips and even has sounds. It’s available on the App Store for just $0.99.
