Adventures for iPhone is a journal and travel log created by Sam Gray and Kal Michael, creator of the amazing 2048px. We all love taking photos on our travels, whether the photos are of our families, of a beautiful scenery or even of the scrumptious meal we devoured. Powered by your Evernote account, Adventures lets you save these precious Memories in an elegant manner using your iPhone.
On first launch, the app prompts you to login to your Evernote account. If you have the Evernote app installed on your phone, authorisation takes just two taps. Adding a new Adventure is easy, just tap the add button on the top right, enter a title for your Adventure and tap Next. If you wish, you can also add tags to your Adventures to make it easier to access in Evernote. Each Adventure consists of one or more Memories to which you can add photos, notes and locations. Adventures are displayed beautifully as a collection of Memories and once you’ve added multiple Adventures, viewing them at a glance gives you an amazing overview of all your experiences and lets you relive your Adventures. Memories can be viewed either as a beautiful collection of images stacked on top of each other or as locations pinned to a map. The app lets you add a maximum of 10 images to each Memory. These Memories can be kept private or shared using Twitter, Facebook, App.net, Foursquare or Instagram. Signing into each of these services is an absolute breeze since the app uses App.net passport and 1Password for logging into App.net and Foursquare respectively and the built-in iOS integration for logging into Twitter and Facebook. I love it when developers use URL schemes to make the cumbersome process of authorisation so seamless. Adventures and Memories can be deleted or edited simply by tapping the i button present on both. The app also has a settings page that gives you the option to sync only when connected to wifi and also lets you choose the size of the images being saved to Evernote.
The best thing about Adventures is that it syncs directly with your Evernote account so you don’t need to worry about losing your data. One feature that I feel can be added to the app is the ability for it to pull location data directly from the photo instead of prompting the user to enter it. The app has a few minor bugs and I noticed some lag on my iPhone 4S while viewing Adventures and Memories as a collection of pictures. I recently started using Adventures and have become a fan of the app’s simplicity and attractive UI. If you love keeping a travel log, make sure to give Adventures for iPhone a spin. The app is available on the App Store for $2.99.
