For the longest time, I’ve been a Simplenote premium subscriber and have been pretty happy using the app and service for all my needs. It’s a nifty little app that gives you a clean, clutter-free interface to manage your notes and while there have been numerous other apps for keeping notes on the App Store, nothing really caught my attention. But then I came across Notefile.
Notefile is an app by Junecloud, the same folks who’ve brought to you Delivery Status Touch in the past. Notefile brings the same kind of finesse to the table that Junecloud is known for. The app is virtually UI-less, presenting just a blank canvas to start typing on when you first launch the app on the iPhone. There’s a tiny settings button barely visible at the bottom, and another to hide the keyboard shows up when the keyboard is active.
Swiping left on the screen takes you to the list of notes — which again is very minimal, yet gorgeous to look at. A tiny ‘+’ button at the bottom lets you add additional notes. Junecloud also lets you sync your notes across your devices for free using their own sync service. If you’re a Delivery Status Touch user, chances are, you already have an account there.
Notefile is a universal app and is available for $4.99 on the App Store and it also comes with a companion Dashboard widget for the Mac. If you are looking for a no-frills app to keep a collection of notes, give Notefile a try.
