How many times have you found yourself scratching your head, working with different time zones and trying to figure out what time would it be in a city if it was X:Y PM in your local city? Or may be you need to call your spouse who’s traveling on a business trip, but you’re not sure if it’s the right time? I’m sure this happens to you many a times, at least when the biggest tech companies announce a keynote and you don’t know what time you need be at the desk with a bag of chips and a cold drink.
We had previously written about Every Time Zone, a brilliant website that lets you convert between timezones easily. But today, we were tipped about an app called synchronize by one of our awesome readers Michael Latham. synchronize is a fantastic utility for your iPhone or iPad that lets you pick up to four different cities from around the world and gives you a super easy way to convert between their time zones. It has a fairly basic, flat-ish UI, showing you big numbers for the time and bright colors for the selections. As you swipe the timeline at the bottom, the time displayed changes. It defaults to the local city, but you can tap to choose a different one. This is great when I want to know what time is it locally when Apple holds a keynote in SF at 10AM. You can even email the results from within the app.
My only quibble about the app is the way it handles the city selection UI. The app has segregated cities into geographical regions and gives you no way to search. This experience can be vastly improved. That said, it still is a pretty solid utility to have on your device, specially considering it is available Free on the App Store.
