Oh, what’s that? You didn’t realize it was a Sunday already? Time flies, doesn’t it? Wondering what we have ready to be served on the Platter this week? Why don’t you check it out then?
Glyphish
Glyphish has amazing icon sets that you can use in apps. They recently posted a completely new set that has a reimagining of their best icons for mobile apps redone to suit the visual style used in iOS 7. Their icons are used by Apple, Google, Twitter, Facebook among others. The icons look stunning and they will leverage your app design for sure. They have various packages available for purchase on the site. There’s even a 25% discount if you buy the complete collection.
Cleartrip Waytogo
Cleartrip have been featured here for their awesome Android and iOS apps already. They recently launched Cleartrip Waytogo that allows you to input two places and it will show you how to go from one to the other including all forms of transportation with an approximate cost. It even lets you book your flights from here. The landing page looks pretty amazing with the blurred photographs used behind the text and icons. You can try it out for yourself here.
Meanings
Meanings for iPhone does something we’ve all wanted for a long time. It uses your iPhone camera and allows you to tap on words you see to define them. Meanings can auto define the word using the built in iOS dictionary or use Google or Wikipedia. The app has worked more or less perfectly for standard text but it failed for variations to the style or handwritten text. Meanings is available for $0.99 on the App Store.
A World Clock for Remote Teams
Timing is the modern day world clock. Today so many people work on a project from different parts of the world. Keeping track of when someone you work with is free becomes difficult with time zones. Timing takes care of that with its simple to use interface. After adding the people you work with from your contacts and their location, the app will display a separate clock for each person on the top. The clock colour indicates the time of the day and if a clock has a green background, working hours are on in that particular timezone. You can even swipe across the map and go ahead or back in time. Timing is available for iPad on the App Store for $2.99
Dialogue
Dialogue is a brilliant app that brings handsfree calling to your Mac. Similar to how handsfree calling works in your car, Dialogue works with the Bluetooth on your phone, thus making your Mac a fully capable calling and receiving device. Dialogue lets you make as well as receive calls on your Mac, without touching your phone. It reads your Contacts, so you can see the name and avatar of the person calling. You can also search for a contact and initiate a call just as easily. The best part about Dialogue, especially when you're using an iOS device, is that it lets you record your calls. The first version we tried had a few bugs, but none that a quick update won't fix. Dialogue is available on the Mac App Store for just $6.99.
The 100 Meter Scroll
THE 100 METER SCROLL is a fun, single-function website built by Grey London and I Like To Play. It's a beautifully crafted interactive website that involves scrolling down to the bottom of the page as fast as possible — a 100 Meter dash to the finish line. I only managed to finish in abour 24 seconds. You should give it a try.
SEQ
SEQ is a superb puzzle game available for both iPhone and iPad that involves dragging a SEQuence of numbers down to zero. The objective of the game is to complete all the available squares in each level and finish all streams of numbers down to zero. Gameplay is minimal and a lot of fun. The game has over 160 levels to solve and you can solve them in any order. SEQ is built by the same guys who brought us Mr. Mood and is available Free on the App Store, with IAP for additional levels.
Bonus: Polygon’s Custom Layout
Just as we were ready to publish this Platter, Mikhail came across this amazingly well-presented layout for one of Polygon’s newest articles. Go check it out, it’ll blow your mind.
