There exist a number of different services on the web today that let you upload and share your photos with friends, family and followers. Popular services like Flickr, Instagram, Facebook, SmugMug, Cargo and others — all serve a specific kind of audience. Most of these services have a social factor built into them — they all revolve around adding or following friends and what they’re posting on that service. But what if you only want to showcase your best photos, without bothering about friends or comments? Lumo is what you’re looking for.
Lumo is a product of Drew Wilson, who you might have previously read about when we featured Roon here. Lumo is one of Drew’s many amazing projects and he recently released a completely redesigned UI for the service. It offers a minimal platform for you to showcase your best photos. Signing up is Free and you can get started right away. There’s a full-featured website as well as an iPhone app to help you upload and manage your photos. The iPhone app is absolutely gorgeous with a striking iOS 7 inspired UI. It is very easy to navigate and makes managing your photos very easy.
Lumo allows you to create multiple albums and upload your photos to them. There are no ads whatsoever and the service offers Pro accounts for serious users. The free account allows 2GB of storage with a maximum of 4 albums and no custom domain. You can upgrade to a Pro account that gives you Unlimited albums and storage, custom domain and no Lumo branding for $5.99/month. While the price may seem high at first, Lumo makes for a fantastic portfolio platform for serious photographers. You can try out the service by downloading the Free iPhone app from the App Store.
