Today’s modern web technologies have made it possible for developers to do some remarkable things in the browser. We have covered some pretty great examples of that here on Beautiful Pixels, but when I stumbled across Super Sync Sports a few days ago, it still managed to blow me away.
Super Sync Sports is a Chrome Experiments project by Google UK. Built entirely using modern web technologies including the HTML5 WebSockets feature, the website lets you pair your smartphone or tablet with it, allowing you to control & play three athletic games — Running, Cycling and Swimming. You control while controlling the player using gestures on the smartphone screen, just like a remote wireless controller. You can pair up to 4 devices for each game, letting you and 3 other friends race in the same game. It’s a lovely example of where modern web-browsers have reached today.
You should definitely try it out. Just make sure you have a modern browser (we tried it on Chrome & Safari) and visit this link on your desktop and head over to http://g.co/super on your smartphone browser to set it up. Be warned though, it’s a lot of fun.
