The Internet is a magical place. It has a lot of content spread across different platforms and mediums. These days, saving the Good Stuff from the internet is just as crucial as finding it. And if Mac is your machine of choice, Inboard can help you do just that.
Inboard’s UI looks stunning with its dark theme. Mikhail recently talked about how apps like Tublme and Pixelmator are using dark themes and doing it wonderfully. As Dieter Rams says, ‘Good design is as little design as possible’. With a dark theme, Inboard gets out of the way and lets you focus on the content. Much like iPhoto is for your photos, Inboard is an image management app for your images. Any images. Screenshots, GIFs, Memes, Payment Receipts, important snippets — you can save anything in here.
The interface Inboard ships with works great. All your folders and tags are on the left, images are front and center, while on the right you will find details of the selected images. Inboard also sits in your menu bar, always ready to capture a screenshot or an entire web page on your command. Inboard handles full web page screenshots well. You can also import any images from your hard drive or just drag and drop the image directly into the Inboard window. Inboard emphasizes on Tags with a special “Untagged” tab in the sidebar with a count that screams for your attention. When your saved photos start to go north of hundred, you start to appreciate this feature. Tags are a great way to quickly scan through your content and organize it.
Inboard is a great solution to save content that inspires you or just something you want to visit later on. I found full Web page screenshots in Inboard easy to read. So instead of ‘Pocketing‘ it you can save it to Inboard and refer to the original content in its full glory as opposed to a minimal version of the web page. Inboard also saves the URL, so you can instantly open it up in your default browser. Inboard can also import your Dribbble likes. If you are a designer you can appreciate the importance of good inspiration while working on something new.
Inboard is still in active development, with features like iCloud syncing, video support and folder sharing right around the corner. You can download the beta for Free right away and take it for a spin.
