There are thousands of Twitter apps out there today. In fact, Twitter announced last month that it now officially has one million registered twitter apps. Twitter has also seen a substantial growth in the number of tweets sent out daily by its users.
There are lots of twitter apps that let you manage your timeline, either by filtering the content or taking a different approach altogether. But what about when you just want to tweet something out, without bothering to get lost in the timeline? Yes, there are apps that do just this too. But none comes close to being as beautiful as Wren.
Wren is simple twitter app that only lets you tweet. When I say simple, I really mean it. Wren features just one beautiful tiny window (pictured above) that can be invoked by a global shortcut. On the left is where you type out your tweet and on the right is where it saves unto 3 drafts. URLs can be shortened via a bunch of services, including my personal favorite — Cloud App. Your last public tweet is displayed at the bottom.
Wren also features some elegant animations within the window — when saving a tweet as draft or trying to delete a draft. It also features auto-complete for usernames and automatically hyperlinks tags and entered usernames in a tweet.
Wren is a perfect little companion for when you just want to tweet your thoughts out and continue on with your work. Wren is available on the Mac App Store for $5.
