Alto’s Adventure is by far one of our favorite apps to come out on the App Store this year. The game, Built by Snowman and released in February this year, is an endless runner for iPhone and iPad with a perfect combination of visually spectacular gameplay & superbly done audio. Here’s what Mikhail had to say in his review back in March.
Alto’s Adventure doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it is easily one of the best games available on iOS. It takes stunning visual direction and combines it with addictive gameplay mechanics and a catchy soundtrack perfectly. Alto’s Adventure is what happens when an endless runner and Monument Valley gave birth to a game.
Since then, we’ve clocked (and enjoyed) hundreds of hours in the game, testing out the new additions & features, and at the same time, thoroughly enjoying the gameplay on our devices. Today, Alto’s Adventure version 1.1 has just hit the App Store. This version brings in some under-the-hood improvements such as support for Apple’s Metal APIs introduced in iOS 8 as well as support for the newer, 64-bit iOS devices. Additionally, v1.1 also introduces some exciting new items into the game’s workshop, such as:
- Helmets — To protect you from a single crash
- Pickaxe Chasm Rescue — To save you when you’ve fallen into a chasm
- Llama Horn — To invoke a llama stampede
- Llama Horn Strength — To increase the number of llamas in each stampede
- Wingsuit Timer — To increase the duration of the wingsuit timer
This update also brings in localization for Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese and Swedish.
Alto’s Adventure is available for $1.99 on the App Store.
