Groove is a wonderful new metronome app for your iPhone. Designed and developed by Tom Reinert, Groove is a simple app that has been designed to be fast & precise and excels at being super simple to use.
Groove’s USP, in my opinion, is its sleek, suave look. The UI looks extremely spiffy and you can quickly set the required beat and hit play. The app gets to work right away. There’s a gorgeous dial in the center that lets you set your bpm & the app also lets you manually tap the dial to set the count. Once you hit play, the dial has a glowing ring that syncs with the beat, along with sounds. Tiny "+" and "-" buttons on either side of the dials let you fine tune the beats on the fly. The only other metronome apps I’ve come across that feature a UI this sexy are the ones by Steinway, but those haven’t been updated in a long time now.
Not only does Groove sport a neat UI, it also offers flexibility in setting up the beats. Not only can you set up a standard 4/4 beat, but you can even opt for odd ones like 13/8, 12/16. Not happy, you can just as easily change these on the fly. Groove also has the option to enable first beat accent.
I can say from first hand experience that having a metronome on your iPhone really helps. Groove works great and costs just $0.99 on the App Store. Go get it!
