Human is a beautiful Activity Tracker app for iPhone that runs in the background and tracks your activities like walking, running or biking. Early versions of the app were a little buggy and quite a battery hog when I used ’em, but lately, the app has been spectacular and is quite popular on the App Store as well.
The team at Human gathered all the aggregated data collected via the app from its users, anonymized it and have created a beautiful visual representation of it. Human tracks your activity as you move around in your day-to-day life and this way, Human has analyzed and visualized 7.5 Million miles of activity across major cities around the globe. This is absolutely fascinating to look it.
The most interesting bit about this is that there are no actual maps used for the representation. Human claims that the white pixels you see above were drawn by moving Humans tracked via the app.
The data also gives us other statistics such as which city leads in which kind of activity. For example, biking is most popular in Amsterdam and Copenhagen, while Washington leads in walking, Berlin in running and Los Angeles in Motorized Transport.
You can check out the visualized data here as well as dive down into each individual city to see how they’ve done. Human is available Free on the App Store.
