Dribbble makes for a solid place to find design inspiration or even just to spend hours ogling over some great design. The one downside of this design ogling, however, is Dribbble is home to a lot more mockup rather than actual production material. Thus, when I came across a screenshot of the gorgeous BeachWeather last week I went through an emotional up and down thinking I’d never find my hands on this fine application. Luckily, I went through one final up in my emotions as I read that BeachWeather had already been submitted to the App Store.
BeachWeather is a beautiful app from StudioDalton, the same guys that brought you Lighty, the gorgeous flashlight app. Although it’s hard to know with such an ambiguous title, BeachWeather is just the app you’ll need to give you all the weather-related deets for the beach of your choice. Offering a 3-day forecast in morning and afternoon segments, BeachWeather is complete with conditions*, sunrise & sunset, air temperature (and the UV index), water temperature (as well as high & low tides), and the wind speed & direction. One nice little extra with this app is that not only does the icon update to reflect the current conditions but the tone of the sky, water, and beach adapts to the changing forecast.
BeachWeather currently supports the United States, Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain. We’ve confirmed that in the coming week(s) we’ll be seeing a more complete list of US beaches, as well as newly-introduced support for Canada, Mexico, the UK, and Germany. The updates are built-in and should be more or less automatic so there’s no need to wait on App Store updates. Currently priced at a fantastic $0.99 BeachWeather is available now with support for those select locations with more coming shortly.
*tip: tap the current conditions icon (clouds, sun, etc) to get a gorgeous iOS style popup telling you exactly what they are
