The App Store has seen plenty of “journal” apps by now, a few of which have even been featured here on Beautiful Pixels. So when I was sent a link to Roller Journal, I wasn’t too keen on checking it out. But then, a couple of my close friends recommended the app to me at different times, so I had to check it out. I’m so glad I did.
Roller Journal isn’t your regular journaling app. It takes a new, a different approach to this practice. Instead of making you write your thoughts, Roller Journal asks you interesting and fun questions that you write down answers for. Questions like “What are you looking forward to?”, “Who did you see today?” or even, “If you had the day off tomorrow, what would you do?” make you put down your thoughts much more easily and you tend to feel relaxed when you’re done. Roller Journal gives you that subtle push in the right direction.
The app feels very polished and fit — the color scheme used, the fonts and glyphs looks fantastic on the Retina Display. It has a very flat-ish look, and that’s not a bad thing at all. The latest version (1.1) lets you add your own questions to the list, so you’re only limited by your imagination. Yep, you can share your questions and answers on social networks too. You can even set up a reminder and enable passcode lock to keep your entries secret.
Roller Journal is available on the App Store for just $1.99.
