Saving whatever forest cover is left on this planet has become very important in today's age. More and more businesses are taking up the paperless model and it's great to see more companies use recycled paper for their work. We receive plenty of paper receipts in our day to day life. That coffee you had last evening, that gadget your bought yourself or as a gift, or even your electricity/internet bill all come with a printed receipt. These contain vital information about your purchase, so it becomes mandatory to save that info somewhere. But holding little bits of papers over a few weeks is almost next to impossible. Luckily, Receiptmate will help you with this.
Receiptmate is a new iPhone app that scans and saves your receipts for you. It allows you to click a photo of the receipt with your iPhone and archive it so that you can retrieve it any time in the future. Receiptmate uses Evernote as its backend, so all your data is stored into a Notebook in your Evernote account securely. This also means you can change devices without worrying about losing your data.
Receiptmate is also capable of scanning your receipts and read any characters off them. Once you have clicked a photo, the app shows you a preview and asks you to drag and highlight any numbers that you'd like to use. For example, you can highlight the total amount and tax for each receipt and Receiptmate will tell you the total of all receipts in your Notebook automatically. Because Receiptmate uses Evernote as its backend, you can add tags and change Notebooks if you wanted to.
Receiptmate is a great way to store your receipts and file them. The app even generates PDF reports based off the tags, notebooks or amount. Unfortunately, it only supports US Dollar, British Pound & Euros as currency right now. It stills works well, and scanning is impressively quick. Just make sure the ink on the receipt isn’t faded. Receiptmate is just $2.99 on the App Store.
EDIT: Updated to reflect that it supports more than one currency.
