A few days ago, we wrote about Notefile — an app that took a very simple and elegant approach to notes. Today, an email from the developer of Meernotes dropped into our inboxes and I instantly knew it was going to end up on Beautiful Pixels. Unlike most other notes’ apps on the App Store, Meernotes takes a very retro approach to notes. The app features some exceptionally well designed pixels all over. It features a very skeuomorphic UI, but does this incredibly well. It almost seems like the designer sat with a magnifying glass to make sure every single…

A few hours ago, when I received a link to The Cocktail App website, I believe my exact reaction was, “Holy mother of Arkham Asylum Batman, I’ve got to put this up on Beautiful Pixels.” There are so many deliciously yummy pixels put together in this app, that it’s not even funny. Based on the cocktails poster created by Konstantin Datz, The Cocktail App is a stunning iPhone app that brings you the world’s finest cocktails and their preparatory recipes, right to the palm of your hands. In one tab, you get a list of 37 different cocktails, each with…

When we last wrote about this developer, Milind (our ex-editor) proclaimed that Aleksandar Vacić made beautiful apps by default. So when I received an early-preview of Banca, I wasn’t surprised at all. Banca is a simple and elegant currency convertor from Radiant Tap (previous known as code•aplus), Aleksandar’s design and development studio. He’s previously brought us apps like Couch to 5k, Guerrilla Cardio, Run Mate and Quickie. All of these apps have one thing in common, something that I’m personally a big fan of, and that’s elegant design. There’s no overdone glossiness, no shiny elements. The design compliments the function.…

If you’ve been keeping up the news and happenings in the technology industry over the last couple of years, you’re probably aware of how Adobe has been receiving a lot of flak for their (pretty-much) broken products and technologies (Mostly Flash) that to some extent, hamper the performance of other products. Apple has already been taking big steps in making sure that their products are not affected by any of this, by dissing Flash altogether. The other products in the market that do carry flash, haven’t had any good reviews when it comes to battery-life and performance either. But, you…

We have all come across hundreds of different clock apps for iOS, the most beautiful of which we’ve explored here on Beautiful Pixels. I have been using Night Stand for about a year now, but recently converted over to Pro:Alarm after their email dropped into our inbox. I was sold on the first impressions. Pro:Alarm packs 4 major features — World Clock, Alarm, Timer and a nifty Location based alarm, all of which are quickly accessible via the tab bar at the bottom. The World Clock lets you add multiple cities that you can swipe through and also features weather…

Threshold is a beautiful app for monitoring the data usage on your iOS device. Designed and developed by Kvvlu Inc, Threshold features some glorious pixels in the form of wooden textures and gradients. Threshold lets you easily keep an eye on your mobile data, while it monitors it in real-time. The app lets you set up your data plan in the settings (both limited and unlimited) and even lets you add custom alerts at different intervals. Threshold is available at $3.99 on the App Store. Update: Threshold also has a ‘free, with ads’ version on the App Store.
