Piictu is a new photo-sharing app for your iPhone in an already saturated market, pretty much dominated by Instagram. However, unlike others, Piictu takes a very interesting approach to your photos and is the only app on the App Store to do this so far. As the tagline, “A fun + simple way to talk & play with piics” suggests, Piictu lets you play with your photos. When a user posts a new photo, a ‘stream’ is created. Others can continue or respond to this stream by their own photos. For example, one of the most popular streams currently is…

With 425,000 apps on the App Store today, it has come to a point where almost every post about a new app I compose pretty much begins along the lines of me saying, “There are plenty of such apps on the App Store today”. COLOURlovers is a great place to begin at, but recently I also came across a wonderful little service called Colorapi. Colorapi is a fantastic tool by Bermi Ferrer that lets you find color inspirations from photos on Flickr. You simply enter a search query and it returns photos from the popular photo sharing site along with the color…

I Do Lists is a very minimal, elegant and clean ‘Lists’ app from the folks at Eight Thumbs. The app is ridiculously simple and straightforward, allowing you to quickly and easily add new lists and news items in your lists. The interface uses Helvetica and has a very clean and smart look to it. The icon too maintains the same refreshing look to it. I was curious about how the developers came up with the name “I Do Lists” instead of going for something like “Helvetilists” or “Listvetica”, so here’s what they had to say. We were trying to think…

Holitapp is a very simple app. It lets you see upcoming (Canadian only) holidays and shows up information about that holiday, including a nifty countdown timer for each. You can even add your own important days into the list if you want. There are alerts as well, if you want to be reminded on that special day. Not missing are the social network sharing options. The app features a vibrant red and black color scheme and has been pretty well designed. Holitapp is available for 99 cents on the App Store.
