Verbs was my favorite IM client back in iOS 6 days. It had a beautiful design, supported my Google account(s) and it just worked. Unfortunately, it hadn’t been updated in a long time and after the release of iOS 7, it started feeling neglected. Thankfully, the developers have finally released version 3.0 of Verbs that brings a much needed relief to the fans of the app.
Verbs 3.0 is now designed for iOS 7. The UI has been completely overhauled and fully de-gradient-alized. It now feels right at home on iOS 7 and looks great. Thanks to a rewrite of server side code, your chats now sync across all your devices. If you have iCloud enabled, it’ll also sync your file-sharing & read later accounts. There are several other improvements that have shipped with this update, like in-app notifications and support for Pocket. The update also adds support for the Jabber protocol, but temporarily removes support for Facebook accounts.
The most notable thing about this release is that Verbs has gotten rid of all IAPs. Previously, you had to buy the app for $3 and if you wanted additional features, there was an additional IAP called Verbs Pro. Now, with version 3.0, you can purchase Verbs as a Universal app for just $2.99 on the App Store and you’ll get all the features with it. Of course, this is a free update to existing users.
