Amity is a lovingly crafted interactive messaging app for iOS and Android that adds a lot of fun elements to your chats. Debuting just a few of days before iOS 10 was out with the all new iMessages platform, Amity boasts of its own unique approach that make your old, boring, text-only chats much more lively and interactive. It also has the added benefit of being available for Android devices as well, so a lot more of your friends can join in on the action.
Every chat inside Amity includes some interactive features. For example, you can Nudge someone or send High Five to them. Got more than 5 people on your list? You unlock a special Golden High Five feature. Similarly, you can request a Photo, Video or Location from someone, or even ask them to call you. All of these actions are accompanied with lovely animations on screen and look great.
What chat app is complete without stickers these days? Amity includes a sticker store, allowing you to download and install sticker packs as per your liking. You can also send your current battery status, links or videos that you find by searching the web — all without leaving Amity. The app generates rich previews automatically, so your recipient knows what they are clicking on. I love that you can take action or react on images, links, videos, etc. sent or received in the app by tapping a small emoji icon on them.
Amity is fairly new in the market and is going up against competitors like Telegram, WhatsApp, Line and now iMessage. However, it’s interesting to note that Amity doesn’t yet have an open platform where developers can submit their own interactions that can be installed by end-users. That said, it’s still quite a fun experience to try out with your friends.
Amity is available for Free via the App Store for iPhone (includes Apple Watch app) and via Google Play for Android devices (in Beta).
