Let’s face it, you’re already tired of the abundance of weather apps that show up on the App Store everyday. Every single one of you has, by now, already settled into their favorite weather app and there are literally thousands of you who don’t even depend on a weather app. Every time we showcase a weather app here on Beautiful Pixels, we receive feedback that sings the tune of “Enough is enough”. But I’m sure that the iOS developers who sit down to make a weather app think so too. At least that’s what I think went through the designers and developers of good weather. See, good weather is a weather app, but it’s not just a weather app. I’d like to think that it’s actually a game that shows you the weather.
‘good weather’ has been conceived, designed and developed by the geniuses at Fried Cookie Software and on the outside, it looks like a simple weather app. However, it’s what’s on the inside that counts, isn’t it? good weather makes use of some bright, visually appealing colors throughout the app to display the weather conditions. It uses unique icons and sounds to improve the experience and also shows you a 5-day forecast for your locations. You can add multiple locations in the app, accessible via the basement on the right hand side. I love the fact that good weather ships with 3 default locations — Winterfell, Oz and Neverland. Each type of weather containing a mini-game that you can transition into. There’s a long list of weather types available in a ‘Games Board’ that you can access and keep tabs on your high score for each weather. I’ve been using the app for the last 5 days and it has been a lot of fun.
good weather sports a meticulously crafted and polished UI that makes use of bright, flat colors. But unlike your other “simple” or “minimal” weather apps, it adds an additional layer of fun. It is Free on the App Store, why don’t you go check it out?
