Thanks to the advent of cameras in smartphones and with their quality improving year after year, along with apps like Instagram to go along, the number of photos we users take these days has gone up substantially. It has become ridiculously easy to capture precious moments, various events and happenings and store them digitally. However, our photos collections are often spread over multiple locations. There’s Instagram, Flickr, Picasa, Facebook, Twitter on the web, Camera Rolls on your smartphone and local libraries like iPhoto, Aperture or Lightroom. Depending on our own preference, we end up uploading different kinds of photos on each service. However, it becomes too much of a hassle to browse or maintain these collections and more often than not, you’ll have wanted an easier way to get an overview of your photos. Everpix is a new app/service combo that will help you in such a case.
At its core, Everpix is a service that collects your photos from multiple sources into a single library and offers stunning apps, both on the web and iOS to browse all of those photos. But Everpix goes beyond this by doing some nifty processing & analyzing of the photos and neatly clubs & organizes them into a collection of Highlights. The service studies patterns in the photographs and highlights important photos while hiding the redundant or blurry photos. This gives you a fabulous way to scan through your collection of photos and see the best moments in them. There’s also a ‘Moments’ view that neatly puts all the photos you’ve ever taken and sorts them by Year & Month. This way, you could go back in time and view all the photos you’d taken in 2011 and view them through a gorgeous interface. This is a great way to feel kinda nostalgic. If you want to share a photo with someone, you can send him an email from within the app via Photo Mail. If others have shared a photo via Photo Mail, it’ll show up in your Everpix library automatically.
Everpix has a really amazing website and iPhone and iPad apps. It feels great to sit with your family and friends and go through some old moments. Everpix is a paid service now has a Free plan that you can sign up for that’ll store all your photos from the last 12 months. If you want to store ALL your photos, the paid plan runs for $4.99/mon or $40 a year. You can download the universal iOS app Free from the App Store. Everpix has a menubar app for Mac as well as a Windows app, that’ll let you add your local photos too. There’s a 30-day trial if you want to try the service out.
Updated March 8th, 2013 to reflect the introduction of free plan.
