If you take a lot of photos and videos on your iPhone or iPad and share them with your friends, colleagues or on social media, Metapho is a must-have app for you. No, it isn’t another photo editing app or the newest set of filters. Metapho is actually a fantastic iOS app that helps you take control of the meta data that’s stored in every photo or video you take. We wrote about the app in December 2014 when it had just hit the App Store.
The photos you take using your smartphone’s camera contain much more than just the moment you’ve captured. Additional data such as the make & model of your smartphone, details like ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed, and Focal Length as well as the location where that photo was taken is available along with the photo itself. Every time you share the photo with anyone, all this information is directly available to them. Metapho is a simple utility app for iOS 8 that lets you view all this additional meta data from your photos and also gives you the ability to remove it before sharing with someone.
Metapho 3.0 is out on the App Store today and adds two great new features to the app:
— Support for Video: Just like photos, Metapho can handle the meta data of your videos too. You can quickly view, edit and “Safe Share” them with anyone.
— Support for Multiple Photos in the Action Extension: Metapho’s action extension can handle multiple photos now, so you can tap and select multiple photos in a bunch and take action on them together.
Other improvements bundled with this release include support for My Album and Smart Album with location and favorite filters, along with overall better performance.
Metapho is available for Free on the App Store and includes a $2.99 IAP to unlock all features.
